This little girl came out of the egg severely kinked. We didn't think there was much hope for her. It's been a month now and so far she is eating very well, shedding well and defecating well. So for now she is ok. We're hoping the kinks don't hinder her development but only time will tell. Just not ready to give up on her yet. This little guy has a very tiny kink on his back so he's likely a keeper. It isn't even noticeable by sight as of right now. It won't hinder him in any way, but I'd still like to keep him to be sure..at least for a few months. Then I will decide if he will be for sale

We have all kinds of baby corns hatching! We are so thrilled about all the hets proving out, and being discovered. We have Amel, Anery, Butter, Caramel, Ghost, Hypo, Motley, Snow (lots of these) and some combos. Once they have eaten for 3 weeks and have had good sheds they will be for sale. So keep checking back on the 2014 plans/hatchlings page for updated pictures and pricing. We will also be bringing them to our reptile expos very soon to sell!! Deciding on hold backs this year is proving to be difficult with so many beautiful ones to choose from! So far definite keepers are KU14-01 and LT14-11. We are waiting on some to have their first and second sheds to decide. And we still have several left to hatch. All in all we should have over 115 babies this year! We have had one somehow escape the incubator and one get away during feeding. They are quick little boogers. Hopefully they will turn up. Unfortunately we've lost a couple along the way. One egg got turned over by another hatchling and drowned in its egg. Another died in the egg very close to hatching and some eggs slugged out along the way. But all in all we've been very fortunate so far. Now just hoping they all eat. We had several last year that just wouldn't eat and ultimately died. One we force fed for almost 9 months and she is starting to grow like a weed now. One we force fed for over 6 months and she ultimately died recently. She would never take the food down into her stomach on her own. We think she had some kind of internal deformity causing that to occur. This has been our most exciting season yet and we are looking forward to showing you our
Breeding is starting early here at NevaeH! Our Normal X Mojave Spider pairing has locked several times. We've also put her with our Citrus Pastel and have had several locks. Hoping we caught ovulation. We had two locks today. One being our Mojave X Mojave Spider pairing. Hoping for some nice Blue Eyed Leucistic. With Corns we had Molly and Galileo lock today. Should have a great clutch with this pairing! We have several others paired up, just no visible locks yet
Brumation is almost here. We will be brumating our breeder groups and some of the other adults. We do a partial brumation since we have several species in the reptile room. We lower the heat on their racks but not in the room because of our ball pythons. We feed them more now to prepare for their brumation period. In about 3 weeks they will begin brumation and will be taken out in feb. Then their breeding season will begin. We hope to have some super match ups next season! We have began our ball python breeding season here at NevaeH Reptiles. Rosemary our normal girl has locked with Lestat our male Spider Mohave. They locked last season with no eggs. Keeping our fingers crossed for this season We recently attended the reptile expo in Hamburg, PA. We saw some familiar faces and had a great day. We came home with several new pick ups which are on our " Collection" page. We will also be at the Havre de Grace, MD show this coming Saturday to pick up a few things.. Including a Phantom Ball Python which we plan to breed in a couple years to our Mojo girl in the hopes of producing a Purple Passion!!
We will be at Manassas again on May 4th. Hope to see everyone there!! Breeding has begun "Snake Pit" wide. We have had Vesta, our normal ball lock with Shmotz our 100% het Pied boy two times. Ezimae and Galieo (Anery Motley/Stripe, het Sunglow and Sunglow Motley het Anery, Stripe) locked almost a month ago. She has already shed. Not sure if this is her pre lay shed or not. The timing is right but I do not feel any eggs. But she is so fat I may not be able to. Getting ready to prepare her lay box. Kalameli (Caramel het Hypo) has locked with K.C. (Caramel). I am looking forward to these pairings! Unsure of the other pairs as to if there were locks. I am cycling them so that hopefully at one point there is a lock. It took several attempts for Kalamel and K.C. before they locked. It's all about patience!
Breeding season has begun with the ball pythons. Have paired a normal girl with unknown hets with a Cinny, Super Pastel and Mojo spider (confirmed lock). Looking forward to the outcome. Waiting on 2 other females to get to the proper weight. Not much further to go!
Corns will be out of brumation in a month. Have several things planned for this season. Waiting to see what a couple of my males weight come in at to see if they are ready for this year. Keep checking back for more announcements !! |
