If you read the title page you know we are no longer in business because of my health. Just 2 months after my last blog entry I was diagnosed with Stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer with positive lymph node involvement. It's funny how life can take such a drastic turn so quickly. We had started to sell some of the collection due to working so many hours but still was breeding and doing shows when we could. When the diagnosis hit life stopped. I thought it would be a temporary thing. But it wasn't. I am still in treatment and will be until at least May of this year. So we decided that more than likely we won't be able to start the business back up again. So I wanted to jump on here to thank you for all the years of love and support. We really enjoyed the business and just the day to day life of reptile ownership. Going to shows and meeting so many wonderful people. Especially seeing the kids. And how their eyes would get so big when they would get to touch and sometimes hold the critters. That was probably what we'll miss the most. The reptile business is changing all the time and new and exciting projects are being developed. I am still friends with a lot of the reptile community so I get to see all the great animals being produced. And who knows. Maybe in a few years...well..you just never know what life will bring

We have decided to take a step back in our reptile journey for awhile. We're keeping a few geckos and snakes in case we decide to start back up in the future. As for now, our regular daily jobs are keeping us too busy to continue full force with NevaeH. Thanks to all of you who have supported our hobby/business over the years. It was great getting to meet so many interesting people and forming lasting friendships! We have learned so much from all of you and are very thankful. We hope to see more of you in the future. Keep checking back because you never know where our journeys will take us!
I will be updating the website in the coming weeks. I am hoping to make it easier to navigate. As of right now the for sale and keepers are located together. Easy to find on a desktop but not as easy on a mobile device. So bear with me while I work on gathering new pics and rearranging them.
Check out the Breeding plans/Hatchlings page! We have new babies! Only one clutch left to hatch (plus a couple from the Ahn-ya X Willie breeding..only 5 eggs now and not sure if they are all good).
I'm very excited about the Ambris X Carl offspring! They are gorgeous! Can't wait to see how these look after a few sheds! Once the hatchlings have 3 meals they will be ready to go! We should have some hatchlings very soon! Our first clutch from Storm X Zeus should be hatching in the next week! Then the rest will be later in the month into the first couple weeks of August. We sold our Lucy who ended up laying all slugs this season for us but double clutched for the new owner! What a surprise. Olympia also slugged out and double clutched but also slugs. Ahn-ya had a mixture of slugs and eggs over a month's time! That was a first for us. Glazend so far has slugged out as well. Candy reabsorbed her eggs, at least that's what I am assuming since she was lumpy and now she isn't and was bred a few months ago.
Working at the animal hospital is leaving me with less free time so I am downsizing the collection even more than planned. I have 29 listed now with more possibly later. And depending on what hatches out, those will be listed once they have had a couple sheds and a few meals. Look for them in Sept to be listed. I did purchase a couple breeders and future breeders before deciding to downsize. But those are keepers. We had a slow start but finally some breeding has begun. Olympia and Rio had some "evidence" that copulation occurred. She is now lumpy and refusing food. Storm and Zeus has had 2 successful locks. Lucy and Tango have had 1 successful lock. Ahn-ya and Willie have also successfully locked. I have not seen a lock in Ambris x Link, Glazend x Link, Eve x Pogo, Candy x Bo, Willow x Rio, Kahlua x Rocco, Bacardi x Mojito. We have purchased another breeding pair and some other breeders. We got Thor an anery for Willow to take the place of Rio, Carl a caramel Stripe to take the place of Link with Ambris, and a pair of Creamsicle (rat x corn hybrid). He is a stripe and have locked.
We also purchased some pine snakes for future projects as well as an albino checkered garter. We just did our first PA show this past Saturday at the York Reptile and Pet Expo. It was a very good show. Lots of people in attendance. Saw a few known faces, and lots of new ones. I happily sold 10 babies to what seemed to be good homes. 3 of which went for educational programs. We will likely return there in November, weather permitting. Our next show is May 30th in Leesburg. We decided to skip the May Manassas show this time around since we have so little left to sell. Hopefully we'll be there in August 2015 is going to an interesting year. We have added 2 Pied Ball Pythons and have sold all others. The pieds are 2014's and we have no plans on breeding them as of now. Of course who knows in 2-3 yrs what we decide. We have downsized quite a bit and are at about 76 total (including the for sale). I've have added direct sales of Scentsy products and Jamberry Nails! So my reptile time has decreased a little. We plan on breeding selectively this season. We plan on trying to breed our Moonshine rat snake pair again this year. This will be the 3rd attempt. The same with our Terrazzo pair. So far no luck. We will also be breeding our amber motley pair. The lavender pair aren't at breeding size yet. So they will be in the 2016 plans. We're still evaluating the others to determine which to breed and will begin this month (feb). Keep checking our site for news!
We will be vending a new show this year starting Feb 28th. It's the new Leesburg, VA show. Looking forward to meeting new people! We are also considering venturing into MD and PA this fall. As always, if any of you have any questions please send us an email and we'll get back to you asap! Generally within the same day or next day Thanks to all our loyal customers and friends who come to see us at our shows! Looking forward to seeing you again this year!! Out of over 100 corn hatchlings 17 are problem feeders. These have been force fed x-small pinky heads and will not be available for sale until they are eating on their own. They are all shedding well except for a few odd balls who from time to time prove to be slower at shedding. Some of them have had drastic changes in their appearance. Some have not changed a bit. I've decided on a few keepers but some are still up in the air and will be held back until a later date. This includes all of the EP group. We've proven out some hets as well as had surprise hets! This is the best part of the business! So many surprises even when you think you know what will hatch out. We've decided to sell a couple extra adults not listed as for sale on the Our keepers, breeders and animals for sale page.
We've also added the Hampton Roads, Fredericksburg and Richmond shows to our list and Frederick, MD next year! Our first ball python eggs finally hatched. I had to cut them on day 67. 2 are out as of this blog. I was hoping for visual pieds but did not get any. We are selling all of the ball pythons with the exception of our Mojave Female Truffles and Phantom Male Tantric. We have $1000 in the purchase price of this pair and will not separate them. With the market prices dramatically down this year we can not get close to what we paid for them. So they will stay here and hopefully produce some Purple Passions for us. As of now all the females have been sold. We still have a few males left and hope to have them all sold by year's end. If you'd like to make a group offer, let me know! |
